This Elden Ring Glintstone Dragon Adula Guide features boss locations, tips, strategies and videos on how to defeat Adula easily, as well as boss stats and lore for Adula. Glintstone Dragon Adula is a huge dragon boss found in Liurnia of the Lakes. Adula is first encountered roaming the Three Sisters sub-region in the north. After dealing enough damage to it, the dragon will teleport to the Cathedral of Manus Celes in the south, which can only be accessed after defeating Astel, Naturalborn of the Void. Adula used to be an enemy of the academy until Ranni fought and won against the dragon, after which they were sworn into her service. This is an optional boss as players don't need to defeat it to advance in Elden Ring. After taking Glintstone Dragon Adula to about half health at the Three Sisters, they will fly off to their next location. They have high magic resistance, so physical attacks are recommended when fighting Adula. Do note that defeating them at the Three Sisters will reward you with the runes but not any of the special item drops tied to this boss. They drop three Dragon Hearts and Adula's Moonblade upon defeat. Bosses are unique and challenging Enemies that can be encountered all over the Lands Between. Great Enemy bosses can drop unique Spirit Ashes, Weapons, Spells, and other various Items. Adula, a devourer of sorcerers, was bested by Ranni and subsequently swore a knightly oath to her Dark Moon. Elden Ring Glintstone Dragon Adula Boss Guide Glintstone Dragon Adula Boss Video Guide [video coming soon] Glintstone Dragon Adula Fight Strategy The Best Tips for Glintstone Dragon Adula This Boss has high magic resistance so try to use Physical Damage if you can. Use the Eternal Darkness spell to draw in the homing crystals, making this fight more easier. MOUNTED STRATEGY EASIEST The easiest strategy is to get on your mount and ride through his legs swiping his wings and feet as you go, trying to keep moving as much as possible. Ride away when he flies off, locate him once he lands again, and then make your way to him, taking a wider arc if he breathes fire so as not to get hit. You can load up on HP flasks for this strategy and put on your heaviest armor, since weight does not matter when you are mounted. When the boss first spawns or when they reset their position, they get stuck in a long animation giving players a good window to get free damage in. You can attempt to use this to ease the fight by bringing the fight away from the church causing the dragon to reset its position, but not its hp bar. MELEE STRATEGY This can be an extremely difficult fight for melee characters because hitting the head of the Dragon does the most damage, and it's hard to reach just like past From Software Dragon fights. Using a long reaching Weapon like the Bastard Sword, Ordovis' Greatsword, Spear, or Lance can make this markedly easier, so I suggest using one of them. If not aiming for the head, both the legs and the wings make for good accessible hitzones to aim for, the wings are especially safe from tailswipes and foot stomps. In the beginning of the fight, Adula will undergo a lengthy roaring animation. This is your chance to do as much damage as possible and stagger him, allowing you to perform a poise deathblow. If he raises up in the air to breath fire directly downward you need to roll away from him as fast as you can. This is a very difficult attack to dodge, and will likely kill you more than just about any other attack. If he raises up in the air and hangs there for a second NOT BREATHING MAGIC MIST, then he will pounce on you. Make sure you wait until the last second and dodge away from him, and then attack for some easy damage. If you end up behind him for any length of time, he will likely do a tail swipe, make sure you Block it or roll through it. They will lift their tail up and to their left before the swipe, however do not rely on this to time a roll as the dragon sometimes throws in a small delay before the swipe to catch players off guard. When Glintstone Dragon Adula breathes fire from the ground their head is lowered and mostly stationary, you can get underneath them and hit their head during this time. Be wary of the glintstone shard breath attack as the boss will do mostly the same motion but the breath effect is different and the shards will come flying at you from whatever direction they were fire in, get ready to block or dodge them. MAGIC AND RANGED STRATEGY Sorcery easy mode Stand inside the cathedral and use Night Maiden's Mist. Standing in the middle between the entrance and the nearby site of grace ensure their breath attack cannot damage you. Sip some tea while your favorite true damage sorcery does all the work. Since the dragon is strong against magic, a good spell to use against it is Rock Sling, which deals good damage and can break poise. If you're feeling brave, you can use Meteorite or Meteorite of Astel to deal massive damage to it, but be wary of its stomps. The strategy for this fight is somewhat similar whether you're ranged or melee, so you'll want to play in a similar manner avoiding the same attacks. However, it's easier to lock onto his head and range him with Glintstone Stars or Glintstone Pebble if you have either. I highly recommend using a Shield in your off-hand so you can Block when needed in between casts. And you'll want to have more FP Flasks so that you can use as much magic as possible, which means you won't be able to heal, so try not to get hit anymore than you have to. Remember that you can use Spirit Ashes to help you out, with someone else being focused by the boss you can freely deal damage and not worry as much about dodging attacks. Watch out for the glintstone breath attack as the seeking shards can be troublesome to deal with, use the environment to take cover or a shield to block the attacks. Lastly, you can fire off spells or use your Bow easily from horseback, allowing you more mobility while staying out of harms way. It might take you a bit longer to beat him this way, but it's definitely safer! Glintstone Dragon Adula Attacks & Counters Attack Description Counter Adula's Moonblade Glintstone Dragon Adula flies up and backwards then conjures a cold magic greatsword held by their teeth, they then swoop down to slash it at their target, releasing multiple cold shard projectiles that apply frostbite to those hit. Watch for Adula to turn their head to their left and move back and to the left of the dragon to dodge the main sweeping attack as well as many of the projectiles that fly out. Alternatively, if you are close enough, you can move under their body to avoid the sword entirely. Seeking Shards Attack Glintstone Dragon Adula does a long grounded breath attack that does not shoot flames out, instead they fire seeking Glintstone Shards that fly towards the player. Look for obstacles in the environment to hide behind and take cover. The best of these is the large rock jutting out just in front of the ruins opposite to the Cathedral of Manus keep track of the shards and dodge or block the attacks when they reach you. Sweeping Dragon Breath Grounded The Dragon's Mouth will glow before they lower their head and spray out a wide breath from their left to their right Quickly run underneath the dragon's right side or skirt widely to avoid the breath. Sweeping Dragon Breath Flying The Dragon's Mouth will glow before they fly upwards into the air then spray their dragon breath widely in front of them from their left to their right. Watch for when the mouth starts to glow to quickly move away or rush underneath to get out of range of the attack. Foot Stomp The Boss raises their foot then stomps it down dealing damage in an AOE around the stomp. Move away from the raised foot or double-jump while on horseback. Flying Stomp The Dragon flies up in the air and hovers for an extended time before stomping down on their target Move away and stay moving to avoid the stompAlternatively rush to get behind them as this will bait them into stomping behind you. Tail Swipe The Dragon lifts their tail to the left before sweeping and spinning around, This attack is often used when you are behind the dragon. Back away to avoid the swipeIt may be possible to avoid damage by quickly moving between the legs towards the head. Head Lunge The Dragon will raise their head then lunge at their target, they can do this with a forward movement or even with a spin to lunge a target behind them Move away from the head to avoid the attack Glintstone Dragon Adula Lore, Notes & Other Trivia Adula was a devourer of sorcerers, but was defeated by Ranni, after which they swore an oath to serve her, which explains why it appears in places relating to Ranni’s questline. Limgrave is the starting region in Elden Ring. With its lush forests and verdant fields, you might think that it’s an idyllic countryside. However, many dangers await you on your travels. Here’s our Elden Ring Limgrave walkthrough guide to help you with the initial portion of the campaign. Note For more information, check out our Elden Ring guides and features hub. Likewise, since you’re just starting out, you can take a look at our beginner’s guide. Since this is the Elden Ring Limgrave walkthrough guide, we’ll focus primarily on the objectives that you need to do to get to the next boss and progress the campaign. Still, I might talk about or link some optional stuff on the side. You may also read our dungeon and secrets guide for this region to see other points of interest. In any case, here’s the map with the landmarks that we’ll visit Church of Elleh You’ll want to go through the Cave of Knowledge, which serves as the game’s tutorial area. From there, exit the Stranded Graveyard to see the wide landscape before you. The Tree Sentinel which you can see in the featured image is patrolling the road. Avoid it and go to the Church of Elleh. You’ll meet Merchant Kale who sells some weapons, ammo, and crafting recipes. Gatefront Continue along the road until you reach the Gatefront Site of Grace. Here, an important character, Melina, will talk to you. She’ll teach you a means of leveling up, as well as your horse mount named Torrent. Note Now that you’ve acquired an item to summon Torrent, you should fast travel back to the Church of Elleh at night. A witch named Renna will give you the Spirit Calling Bell. This will let you summon specters of beasts to aid you in battles. You can level up a bit by beating down the soldiers near Gatefront. But, to progress further, you need to head through the sloping path past the gate. That’s when a Troll spawns. You can fight it or use Torrent to gallop away. In the next section, a bannerman soldier will call for reinforcements, too. Stormhill Shack Continue uphill until you see a small tree with a golden glow. These kinds of trees have a Golden Seed, an item that’s used to increase the charges of your HP/MP flasks. Then, just east of that location, you’ll see the Stormhill Shack Site of Grace. Inside, a woman in a red cloak, Roderika, seems to be down on her luck. You’ll receive the Sitting Sideways emote, as well as the Spirit Jellyfish Ashes. If you don’t get it this early, she’ll hand it to you much later. Note 1 Roderika becomes an integral NPC, as she’ll eventually let you upgrade your Spirit Ash summons. Note 2 If you look behind you to the east, you’ll see that the sloping path curves back to the Gatefront ramparts. There, you can defeat some mobs to get a ranged weapon, as well as the Arrow’s Reach Talisman. Castleward Tunnel Next up, there’s a winding path that’s full of soldiers. You can hide and stealthily make your way through the bushes, which is a good idea. Trying to take them head-on wouldn’t be smart, since a couple of them are using ballistae. Once you get past them, you’ll see the Castleward Tunnel bonfire, as well as a doorway with yellow energy. This is a boss arena where you’ll fight Margit the Fell Omen. Elden Ring is available via Steam. For more information, check out our guides and features hub.
